In May 2017, President Xi Jinping announced to the world at the "Belt and Road" Forum for International Cooperation that "China will host China International Import Expo (CIIE) since 2018".

In November 2017, Shanghai Expotrans (XPTRS) became one of the home logistics service providers of CIIE 2018 after public bidding with the highest comprehensive score.

To get fully prepared for CIIE, as notified by China International Import Expo Bureau, Shanghai Expotrans formally entered the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for coordination and cooperation on June 5, 2018 (the 152nd day prior to inauguration).
